Big Body Pirate Gym at the East end of Mêlée Island is where Captain Smirk teaches special skills of piracy. Guybrush can learn swordfighting techniques from Smirk for a fee of 30 pieces of eight. Smirk uses a device called The Machine to combat his students. He also introduces them to Insult Swordfighting.

By the time of Escape from Monkey Island, Ozzie Mandrill has swiped the business from Captain Smirk in a game of Insult Poker and Smirk, humiliated, has left the island.
