Brett Barret (deceased 1996) was a programmer on The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2. He was killed in a motor-cycle accident prior to the release of the third game. Resultedly, The Curse of Monkey Island is dedicated to his memory. In The Rise of the Pirate God in Tales of Monkey Island, the player will find the grave of Captain Barrett, making this the first time he has been mentioned in game.
