Fester Shinetop

Fester Shinetop is the sheriff of Mêlée Island in the first Monkey Island game. He is not popular with the locals, having replaced the previous sheriff in mysterious circumstances, and has a reputation as the meanest man on Mêlée. He takes a strong interest in Guybrush from the moment he first appears, and is able to catch him attempting to steal the Idol of Many Hands from Elaine Marley. Thereafter he attempts to drown Guybrush, telling him that his plans for Elaine are much too important, and much too near fruition, to risk being upset by a would-be pirate.
In a later cutscene it is revealed to the player that Fester is none other than LeChuck in disguise.
