Herman's Buddy

Herman's Buddy is the hanged corpse found on Monkey Island in the first game. His name remains unknown.
According to the original history introduced in the first game, he and Herman Toothrot sailed to Monkey Island on board the Sea Monkey. Herman's buddy was the captain of the ship; Herman, the First Mate. They set sail for the island at the start of February, and searched fruitlessly for over a month, as the directions they had purchased turned to be a recipe. However when Herman finally prepared the recipe, they found themselves off the shore of Monkey Island the next day. The player will need to uncover Herman's buddy's diary in order to find the Voodoo Recipe that will lead him to the same place. As proved by the text, Herman's buddy was continuously annoyed by Herman's lack of hygiene.
One day while trying set up a swing he accidentally hanged himself, stranding Herman on the island. The player must flood the opening in which he hangs in order to get his piece of rope.
He is shown again as an animatronic puppet on the Rollercoaster of Death.
