IMuse

- Note: This page is called IMuse due to technical restrictions. The proper name is iMuse.
The iMuse sound system was developed by Michael Land and Peter McConnell specifically for LucasArts's SCUMM-engine based adventure games. It was introduced originally in Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. The iMuse sound-system allows the natural blending of background themes when moving from one area to the next. This creates a continuous musical sound without interuption unlike in the prior The Secret of Monkey Island, where the background music would instantly stop when exiting the area in which the music was being played.
The system was implemented for all of LucasArts's other adventure games released after MI2 including the post-SCUMM titles Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island.
Other games utilizing the iMUSE sound system
- Star Wars: X-Wing
- Star Wars: Tie Fighter
- Star Wars: Dark Forces
