Mêlée Island
From MIwiki
Mêlée Island is the first island Guybrush Threepwood sets foot on in the Monkey Island series and is featured in both The Secret of Monkey Island and Escape from Monkey Island.
Much of the gameplay in the first and fourth games take place on this island, as well, both games featuring it also end their stories on Mêlée. It is one of the three main islands in the Tri-Island Area (the other two being Booty and Plunder Island).
The island's geography also changes somewhat between the two games. Most notably the harbor (previously owned by Stan) is moved from the inner bay to the South-East coast. The location of the governor's mansion seems to have also been altered, though this can be debated as the mansion was depicted as being a good distance away from Mêlée town in the first game as well, reachable through a cliff-side road. Most notable changes have happened to Mêlée Town itself, with the Voodoo Lady's shop being much more prominent and with the Scumm Bar now located closer to the rest of town, as well as its exit now facing towards the town centre and not away from the sea as in the first game.

Mêlée
Mêlée (from the French, IPA /mɛle/.) generally refers to disorganized close combat involving a group of fighters. A mêlée ensues when groups become locked together in combat with no regard to group tactics or fighting as an organized unit; each participant fights as an individual. Like many other foreign-derived terms used in common English, the word is typically written with the accents omitted, appearing as just "melee" and pronounced (IPA) /mɛ-liː/.[1]
The Legendary Treasure of Mêlée Island
Finding the Legendary treasure of Mêlée Island is one of the pirate tasks in the first game. The treasure is hidden deep in the woods by the Mêlée Island Chamber of Commerce.
