The interior of the Bloody Lip

The Bloody Lip Bar and Grill is a drinking and dining establishment in Woodtick, the main town on Scabb Island. It can be found inside one of the broken down ship's hulls which comprise Woodtick, and in fact the main bar section is located underwater, with portholes through which passing fish can be glimpsed. The bar has a piano which is played, badly, by Jojo the monkey. The bartender, Augustus DeWatt, is a big man with a nose like a squashed tomato.

When Guybrush first visits the Bloody Lip, the establishment has fallen on hard times thanks to the Largo Embargo. None of the regulars will visit because Largo has them spooked, and the bartender has to turn over all his earnings whenever Largo comes by. The bartender extracts a small revenge by slipping laxatives into Largo's usual drink.

The chef of the Bloody Lip is called Bernard, and he makes gourmet chilled soups. Guybrush can get him fired by slipping a rat into a vichyssoise Bernard is putting together and letting the bartender discover it. Thereafter the position of chef becomes open and Guybrush can apply. He is fired however if the player comes back to Scabb Island after being away for so long.

The aforementioned Jojo is needed later in the game with the waterfall puzzle. You need to use a banana to lure him away and then Guybrush adds him to his growing collection of items.

The Blood Lip Bar is mentioned, albeit not by name, by the Lost Welshman in The Curse of Monkey Island. After deciding to quit his job as the ferryman between Blood Island and Skull Island, the Welshman decides to venture to Scabb Island to apply for the opening of chef. Whether he reached there or not (due to Guybrush's home-made compass, which may have lost its magnetic properties shortly after) is unknown.

In the Special Edition of Monkey Island 2, Augustus DeWatt the Bartender is voiced by Jarion Monroe, Bernard the Chef (called Bar Cook) is voiced by David W. Collins, and the rat itself is voiced by Roger Jackson.
