From Monkey Island wiki
Here are some more specific instructions for the contributors of the "Monkey Island Fan Wiki".
We're trying to maintain a professional and very encyclopedia-ish outlook for the sake of making the wiki seem credible. Some pages created early on in the project may had been less successful in this attempt. This is why we have chosen certain manual of style for each page and a list of items that "need" to be on certain pages.

Game pages:
As of now the game pages format is set. Each page should deal with thematic content:
- plot
- trivia
- popular in-jokes etc.
As well the technological details of the game.
- system requirements
- platforms etc.
If certain items are lacking feel free to contribute to them (see Creating and Editing articles on how to do this).
Character pages:
We are composing a list of articles on Monkey Island characters. There is a specific type of manual of style we like to use. Each number denotes a sub-header except 1. which is the top of the page and possibly 2. as well.
- Opening paragraph = A basic description of the character. If the character's appearance or personal traits require special notice they can be broken off into their own subheaders or paragraphs, depending on the wealth of info.
- Etymology of Names = Quite a few characters in Monkey Island have silly gag-names and a paragraph or an entire section of an article may be devoted to explaining the origins of the character name (in a matter of factly fashion, no speculation).
- Appearances/Role in Games = A basic description of what the character does in each of his appearances.
- A list of games in which the character has appeared = It is preferred that the games' articles are linked to in this section rather than in the above.
- Voice actor(s) = Internal Link to character's voice actor.
On categories
Categories are elaborated on in Creating and Editing articles but suffice to say that this is how we organise articles and keep track of them. Each Article belongs in a Category and each Category is a Sub-Category to another Category. For instance, if you made an article about a character he should go to the "Characters"-category, or if you made an article about an island it should go to the "Islands"-category.
All categories lead to the Prime Category which in the Monkey Island Wiki is the "LucasArts"-category which breaks off into articles and categories of in-universe material, people who have worked on the games etc. If you're ever hesitant about which category to put an article in, your safest bet is to put it in the "LucasArts"-category where it will eventually be directed to the proper sub-category.
Articles with no categories assigned are visible in the Uncategorized Pages-section of Special Pages.
Deleting articles
If you need to delete an article that you accidentally created or made an article that you later realised alredy existed* contact a Synop and tell him/her the name of the article. However, when you are in the "Sandbox"-editing phase the page has not yet been "created" so you can reverse the process by simply going back in your browser or jumping to another page with the search bar or to the Wiki's main-page. A page is created only once you've pressed the Save Page button. A page will also not be created when you preview it.
- An alternative solution is to simply turn the page into a redirect to another page (see the Wiki Guide)
